EAT
The Rifugio Pian di Cengia is located on the Italian-German language border. This represents not only a cultural but also a culinary enrichment. On our menu, you will find specialties from the Tyrolean cuisine, such as Canederli and Kaiserschmarrn but also the Italian dishes polenta and the beloved spaghetti. Hungry hikers can recharge their batteries with our culinary delights – warm dishes available all day.
For Greti and Nikki, it is essential to provide our guests with an excellent, high-quality cuisine.
All dishes are prepared in our own kitchen. We use products from our region as much as possible.
HOW IT WORKS
Supply:
Due to the remote location of our hut, the delivery route is very long.
We use a helicopter, a small off-road tractor, a quad or even just a backpack in case of adverse weather conditions.
Energy:
Solar hybrid island system, diesel generator
Heating/cooking:
Wood and gas
Water:
Small spring with collecting basin – usually very little water available. Composting toilet without water for day guests.
Waste water:
Three chamber sewage treatment plant. The content of the last chamber is pumped out at regular intervals and transported by a helicopter to the sewage treatment plant.
Why we UNFORTUNATELY have to use plastic bottles:
Glass bottles take up much more space (no storage, empty bottles). They are much heavier (we would have to make many more trips/flights in order to bring them to our hut). We try to avoid plastic as much as possible in the valley and are happy when our guests do the same. It is much easier to do in the valley than on top of a mountain and together we can make a big difference!
